Andre Kobayashi Deckrow

Andre Kobayashi Deckrow is a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Heritage Studies and Public History program and the Department of History at the University of Minnesota. A historian of global migration, his current research concerns Japanese government-sponsored migration to Brazil, especially rural São Paulo, in the 1920s and 1930s. Additionally, Deckrow has led a number of community partnerships and public history projects, including the National History Day mentorship program, which engages U of M undergraduates with local middle and high school students, and a partnership to develop exhibits and preserve archives at the Hmong Cultural Center Museum and Library in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
